A noted contender in major events in her native New Zealand since debuting on track in the spring of 2013, trainer Donna Logan has confirmed a position in the final field of this weekend’s Grand Prix Stakes for Telepathic.

Finishing outside the places just once over four starts in her maiden preparation, Telepathic has returned to the track in exceptional form this season; claiming both the Lindauer 3.y.o Open (1200m) and Governor General’s Cup (1600m) with ease before crossing the ditch to finish second behind fellow Grand Prix acceptor Amexed in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) last time out.

While allocated the wide and awkward barrier 14, leading Kiwi jockey Mark Du Plessis has been confirmed to take make the trip to Doomben this weekend, noticeably boosting Telepathic’s chances of success.

Aiming for a third consecutive victory when lining up for the Grand Prix Stakes this weekend, Amexed has without doubt hit career best form so far in 2014, having finished third in the Bundaberg Distilling Co Maiden (1300m) prior to hit most recent run of victories.

Claiming a total of two wins and three places from just seven competitive starts to date, the Pentire gelding was arguably the biggest winner of all leading chances at Wednesday’s Grand Prix Stakes barrier draw; allocated the ideal gate 3.

Confirmed to be partnered by in-form jockey Michael Rodd once more on Saturday, trainer Tony Gollan is expecting another polished performance from Amexed ahead of a likely appearance in the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m) on June 7th.

Also aiming for a third consecutive victory in the 2014 Grand Prix Stakes, trainer Mark Ashby is confident of a successful maiden appearance in a Group level event for exciting prospect Bring Back.

Claiming three wins and one place from 14 competitive starts to date, Bring Back is yet to appear in a Queensland event, but will be partnered by veteran jockey Glen Boss and is likely to receive the run of the race from barrier 2.

Charged with the task of overcoming the wide barrier 15, Vilanova will be aiming to return to the form that delivered a resounding victory in the Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) on February 22nd.

A noted performer in Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival events, the Commands gelding registered an impressive three race campaign as a two-year-old in 2013; finishing second in both the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) and Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) a running on to finish fourth in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m).

Confirmed to be partnered by leading jockey Nash Rawiller, trainer Chris Waller is confident of another impressive performance from Vilanova in the Grand Prix Stakes after finishing fourth in the Rough Habit Plate last time out.

Finishing outside the places just once in 10 competitive starts so far, Glorious Lad has arguably received the most ideal lead-in to the 2014 Grand Prix Stakes; finishing third in all of the Group 2 Avondale Guineas (2100m), Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) and Rough Habit Plate last time out.

A leading chance for success in the 2014 Queensland Derby, the Falkirk gelding is more than a chance from barrier 5, and will be partnered by Tye Angland for the first time on Saturday.
